Like the star light that gives small light around them, so is the meaning of the Bintang Maratur Ulos.

As a symbol of good news, Bintang  Maratur Ulos is a token given to certain people who get blessings or sustenance so that everyone around them also feels joy and happiness.

Bintang Maratur  is usually given at the time of thanksgiving or well wishing of a mother's seventh month pregnancy. It is given by a woman's parent to her daughter and this traditional event is often called the Pitu Bulanan (7 Monthly) event. This ulos can also be given to the first Pahompu (grandson) who has just been born as an ulos parompa (baby sling cloth)
